City of Bakersfield Career Opportunity Day
On Friday, April 6, 2007, the City of Bakersfield held its first “Career Opportunity Day” at Rabobank Convention Center.
This event was the first of its kind for the City of Bakersfield in an effort to:

Attract talented and qualified applicants for employment with the City of Bakersfield;

Create a one-stop-shop for interested applicants wanting to apply and explore career opportunities with the City of Bakersfield; and to Create visibility and awareness for the City of Bakersfield as the Employer of 1st Choice.
During the event applications were accepted for any current vacancy in full time regular and regular temporary positions, as well as temporary aquatics and other summer program positions. Attendees had the opportunity to meet with representatives from all departments and divisions who were available to answer questions, share experiences, and discuss future career opportunities.
Throughout the day there was also be concurrent sessions for anyone interested in hearing about careers in various City Departments, including: Police, Recreation & Parks, Public Works, Fire, and other careers with the City of Bakersfield. The presentations allowed participants to hear not just about the many careers within the City, but also to ask questions about how to prepare for a career with the City of Bakersfield.
