State Route 99 at 7th Standard Interchange


Groundbreaking CeremonyThe County of Kern, in cooperation with the Thomas Roads Improvement Program (TRIP), held a groundbreaking ceremony for the State Route (SR)-99 at 7th Standard Road Interchange on Friday, February 22nd. Speakers for the event were as follows: Senator Dean Florez; Congressman Kevin McCarthy; retired Congressman William M. Thomas; Michael J. Rubio, Chairman Kern County Board of Supervisors; Jon McQuiston, First District Supervisor; Malcolm Dougherty, Caltrans District 6 Director; Mayor Harvey L. Hall; and Cathy Prout, Mayor of Shafter.

 

 

 

About The Project

SR 99 and 7th Standard InterchangeWhen Completed in 2010, the interchange will greatly improve traffic flow and safety on 7th Standard Road by adding a new bridge across SR-99 to carry west bound traffic; building a Separation of Grade at the Union Pacific Railroad tracks to carry west and east bound traffic; signalizing the Golden State and 7th Standard Road intersection; realigning Saco and Quin roads with a signalized intersection; and widening 7th Standard Road through the project area to Coffee Road.

The State Route 99 - 7th Standard Road Interchange is a partnership of the County of Kern, Caltrans, the cities of Bakersfield and Shafter, the Thomas Roads Improvement Program, the Greater Bakersfield Separation of Grade District, and Union Pacific Railroad.
