This data set is known as Metropolitan Bakersfield

General Plan Land Use abbreviated (Land use) and

contains the 1990 General Plan Boundary for the City of

Bakersfield, CA.

Purpose:

This data set was created to aid in local GIS and mapping

applications.

Line work which does not border the Kern River where

extracted from COGOed parcels, street centerlines and

section lines.

Line work which borders the Kern River was extracted from

digitized coverage's of the KErn River centerline and Kern

River shoreline and flood areas. These coverage's where

created using multiple sources including 1995 USGS

DOQQs, USGS 7.5 minute series quadrangles, and a 1997

SPOT panchromatic image. The SPOT panchromatic

image has a resolution of 10 meters or approximately +/- 33

feet.
